Nothing to Blog About

At the barber I leafed through the issue of MacLeans and saw the article -- Nothing to Blog About -- Rannie mentions in this post. It's kind of a crap article cause it only looks at the value of blogs from a MSM perspective, and that's not what blogs are about and the writer defends his column on his "blog":

Blogging is fine. I even do it myself occasionally. It's just that I don't see any of these glorified message boards leading any really important change. The blog universe has been, so far, dedicated to two primary purposes: whining about major media outlets, and hyping the importance of blogs.

Complaining about hack writers falls under Primary Purpose #1. Consider it done. On to the other things people aren't blogging about today ...

I bumped into Adina at the gym and she said that everyone she knows is getting married. Then we talked about smoothies and I bragged that I was going to go home and have a veggie smoothie. And I did, and it was horrible, and I got sick.

Talk of weddings made me think of Maria and I wondered how her sister's wedding was going and if she'd been thoroughly interrogated for being single. It all looks happy in the photos. It doesn't look like she's been subjected to the River of Negativity Sugarmama faces.

Speaking of negativity and SM's post ... America is scary. I've actually kept the program on while working ... does this even pass for fundamentalism? Joel Olsteen's version of "religion" is a disturbing mix of materialism and cult of personality with a strange focus on "enemies". He's also a Bill O'Reilly fan. And his analogies suck. On diversity: "The same God that made the poodle made the bulldog." Dogs are domestic pets and the different breeds are a result of selective breeding done by people. Intelligent design, indeed.

Paul has his latest update on Detroit's first couple, the van Impes:

Jack then goes on about earthquakes, and how the biggest earthquake ever will be when Jesus sets his foot down when he returns. "He splits the land from east to west." I figure it will be about a billion on the Richter Scale and that millions of people won't be raptured because they'll be trapped under tons and tons of rubble. Thanks a lot Jesus, you jerk.

Finally, long before there were blogs, there was Gary Dunford. AZ links his blog.

In other news: is this your favourite blog? It better be, or you'll get the evil eye!
