A Request ... for Science!
 Baldwin Street
I was having lunch with Eva ...
BLAMB: Fall is here!
EVA: And the leaves are changing. Do you know why the leaves change colour?
BLAMB: You and your science, always explaining the ways and whys of the world. It's so useful. It's too bad science isn't for everybody.
EVA: Science is for everybody.
BLAMB: What?
EVA: Science is for everybody. Why do you think I have a science blog?
BLAMB: Can I read your science blog?
EVA: Of course. You need to pay more attention to science.
BLAMB: I'm going to watch the season premiere of Battlestar Galactica.
EVA: Not science fiction. Real science!
BLAMB: I used to follow science. When I was a kid, I had a subscription to Science Digest. And Star Wars action figures.
EVA: But what have you done for science lately?
BLAMB: I link to Space.com. And I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind last week.
EVA: That's science fiction!
BLAMB: It's science future!
EVA: That doesn't mean anything!
BLAMB: It's prescient.
EVA: It's pop culture fluff.
BLAMB: Your science is always judging my science!
EVA: Star Wars is not science!
BLAMB: Well, I'll admit that the prequels aren't.
EVA: Listen, you need to help educate people. What do your readers know about the Canadian contributions to science?
BLAMB: Terry Fox.
EVA: Uh ... okay. What did he do?
BLAMB: He refined the bio-mechanical artificial leg interface.
EVA: I don't think that's true.
BLAMB: If that's not true, what is? I don't think Canadians have science.
EVA: Sure they do. You need a good yarn to spin ... something big, something amazing.
BLAMB: Ok, here's my pitch. We open up with a shot of a famous Canadian scientist and he's driving! He's driving furiously towards some destination.
EVA: Ok, that's a start.
BLAMB: And, and ... and then he keeps driving.
EVA: It's got to have something besides driving.
BLAMB: He's on his ways towards making a great discovery!
EVA: Keep going.
BLAMB: And then we learn something ... something amazing ...
